te.eke works as part of kauhangaroa, which is a art collective dedicated to the expression of art, culture as an essential component of identity and collective hauora—health and wellbeing.

kauhangaroa is a momo harakeke that is linied in red which is a metaphor for our connection to papatuānuku mother earth. “Red” earth, from which her progeny, tane māhuta sculpted the first hine (woman) Hineahuone. a red kokowai that tane could never wash from their arms.
