KAUHANGAROA

kaupapa

At Kauhangaroa, we’re here to help people and organisations grow genuine, respectful, and lasting connections with te ao Māori. Reconnecting with Indigenous knowledge is not just something we do for ourselves—it’s something we do together. It makes our communities stronger, supports our wellbeing, and keeps us grounded in the values that give life to meaning in Aotearoa.

Ngā pou (pillars)

Manaakitanga

To uplift the mana of others, we must first acknowledge their inherent value. At Kauhangaroa, we recognise every person as the current representative of a long line of whakapapa. We honour the mana they carry—past, present, and future—and we meet them where they are, with aroha, respect, and humility.

Ūkaipōtanga

This is our deep responsibility to that which sustains us—our whenua, whānau, communities, and identity. We encourage learners to reflect on their place in the world and to act in ways that nurture reciprocity and long-term wellbeing for both people and place.

Rangatiratanga

True leadership is woven, not imposed. We understand rangatiratanga as the ability to recognise and amplify the diverse strengths within a group. It’s about fostering self-determination while holding space for others to lead in their own ways. Our mahi nurtures confident, values-led leaders who can navigate complexity with grace.

whanaungatanga

Whakawhanaungatanga is about building relationships that honour both people and purpose. It means taking time to connect, to listen deeply, and to recognise the value each person brings. It’s about fostering trust so collaboration flows, and ensuring that everyone feels they belong. In our mahi, we prioritise these connections because strong relationships are the foundation for resilient, thriving communities.
